VA Certificate of Eligibility VA loans are available for: 1. U.S. citizens who have served in the armed forces during WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War or veterans who have completed 181 days of continuous active duty 2. Gulf War active duty personnel and/or reservists called to active duty who served 90 days of continuous active duty are eligible 3. Reservists and National Guard members who have a minimum of 6 years of service plus either honorably discharged, placed on the retired list, currently serving the Selected Reserve or transferred to the Standby Reserve or Ready Reserve 4. Unmarried surviving spouses of veterans whose death occurred in service or as a result of a service-related sickness/injury
